Picking
What Is Picking?
In Arryved Brewery Management (ABM), Picking begins when the Vehicle assigned to a Route is ready to be loaded with the Inventory needed to fulfill the deliveries. Sometimes, Inventory availability has changed from the time the Invoices were created and added to a Route to the time the Vehicle is ready to be loaded. Picking allows you to record what actually went onto the Vehicle and update the final Picksheet. Use this guide to learn how to complete the Picking portion of the sales process.
Prerequisites
- To edit the Picksheet you must be a User with either the Admin, Sales, or Delivery User Roles. The Inventory and Production User Roles grant view-only access to the Picksheet.
- The Route must be scheduled before Picking.
- Picking should only begin once the Vehicle is physically ready to be loaded.
Limitations
- If the weight of the total items added to the Route exceeds the Load Limit of the Vehicle, a warning will appear on the Route page in your ABM. But, it won’t prevent you from continuing.
- Inventory can’t go negative in your ABM, you can only Pick from Inventory that’s on hand. If there isn’t enough Inventory to fulfill the Invoices on the Route, you’ll have to Short Pick them.
How It Works
You’ll start your Picking process when the Vehicle is ready to be loaded with the Inventory for deliveries. As you load Items into the Vehicle, update the Picksheet to reflect what’s actually going on.
Start Picking
In your ABM, Picking is one of the stages of the Route lifecycle that starts after a Route is Scheduled and when the Vehicle is ready to be loaded.
- In your ABM, click Routes from the left-side navigation bar.
- Click on the Route you need from the table on this page.
- It’s helpful to look for the Vehicle that’s ready to be loaded in the Vehicle column.
- Use the filters on the right to show Active Routes.
- Use the search bar if you know the name of the Route or Vehicle.
- Generally, you’re looking for a Route that is Scheduled. Meaning, it’s ready for Picking. You can also choose a Route that’s still in the Picking state or marked as Picked if you need to make a change before the Vehicle actually takes off.
- If you opened up a Scheduled Route, click the Start Picking button in the top right corner.
- This moves the Route from the Scheduled state to the Picking state.
Full vs. Short
Whether you just hit the Start Picking button or had opened up a Route that was already in the Picking/Picked stage, you’re now on the PICKING tab. Here you need to verify the actual quantity of each Item that went onto the Vehicle.
- From the PICKING tab, sort the view of the Picksheet By SKU or By Invoice.
- By SKU lists out the Items individually across all Invoices on this Route. If you Short Pick item here, the Inventory will go to the oldest Invoice first.
- By Invoice groups Items under their respective invoices. The Invoice with the last delivery stop is shown at the top of the list, so those Items can be loaded first, into the back of the Vehicle.
- For each Item on the Picksheet, verify the quantity that is actually loaded onto the Vehicle.
- If enough of the Item is in your on hand Inventory, and the quantity loading into the Vehicle is correct, click the Full button next to that Item. This Item is now good to go!
- If there is insufficient Inventory to fulfill the order or if the quantity loading into the Vehivle is different, click the Short button for that Item to make an update.
- If you actually have the Items present to load onto the Vehicle, but your ABM is saying you have insufficient Inventory, then you can update your Inventory Counts, and come back to this page.
- To save time, you can use the Pick All button if you’re confident that all Inventory is available and the correct quantities are loaded onto the Vehicle. If there’s any insufficient inventory, you’ll be given warnings across the top of the page and only what’s on hand will be Picked.
- Update the Picked Qty for any Items were Short.
Finish Pick
Once all Inventory is verified, the Picksheet looks correct, and the Vehicle is loaded, click Finish Pick in the top right corner.
- This moves the Route from the Picking state to the Picked state.
- Inventory is moved to the Vehicle Inventory Location.
Print Picksheet
You can print the Picksheet for the driver to have handy. Above the Picksheet, choose to Print Picksheet or Print Picksheet w Invoices.
